SwiphtBib — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 June 2026

In a sentence

SwiphtBib does not collect, transmit, or store your data on any server we control. Your references, PDFs, notes, and manuscripts live on your device and, optionally, in your private iCloud.

Who publishes SwiphtBib

SwiphtBib is published by Pengfan Chang, trading as Swipht Group, as an independent developer. Contact: swiphtbib@swiphtgroup.com.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, this address is also the contact for matters under the GDPR / UK GDPR.

What the app handles, and where it goes

References, manuscripts, notes, and attached PDFs

Stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud, copies are kept in your private iCloud database (CloudKit), hosted by Apple, not by us. With Advanced Data Protection enabled on your Apple Account, that data is end-to-end encrypted.

Reference import and metadata lookup

When you import a reference or look up metadata, the request is made to the public scholarly service you choose. We do not operate that service and do not log your queries on our own servers.

Purchase information

The feature unlock and any paid updates are processed by Apple under Apple's terms. We receive only the App Store receipt confirming an active entitlement on your Apple Account. We never see your name, address, payment method, or Apple Account email.

Diagnostics

SwiphtBib contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracker. If you opted in to Apple's "Share with App Developers" diagnostics, Apple may forward aggregated, de-identified crash data to us. You can turn this off in your device settings at any time.

Required-Reason API disclosures

  • UserDefaults (CA92.1) — to store your preferences, citation-style selection, and cached entitlement status.
  • File metadata (C617.1) — to read metadata for PDFs and files you choose to attach to references.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. SwiphtBib ships with no advertising or analytics integrations.

Your rights

  • Access & portability — open the app to read your library; export references and manuscripts where the app provides export.
  • Correction — edit any reference or manuscript at any time.
  • Erasure — delete items in the app; uninstalling removes on-device data. Remove the iCloud copy from your device or iCloud settings.

To exercise rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA / CPRA / LGPD or any analogous law, write to swiphtbib@swiphtgroup.com.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as the app or applicable law evolves. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change, and material changes are summarised in the app's release notes.
